Professor BCS Granted Tenure With NCAA
Posted May 13th, 2008 by Tim WilliamsIt’s about time we just accepted facts as facts: the Bowl Championship Series isn’t going anywhere. There will not be a true playoff in Division I college football anytime soon. No matter how much fans complain, no matter how controversial the bowl selections become, no matter how much money a playoff would bring in, we as fans and followers are going to be stuck with the BCS.
An Issue of Values
Posted April 23rd, 2008 by Tim WilliamsJustin Boren was an offensive lineman for the University of Michigan. In terms of getting to the top of Division I, and possibly getting drafted into the NFL after his collegiate career, there aren’t many better places than Ann Arbor for an O-lineman. One would think that a transfer would be unlikely from a position of power on a team of significance.
Who's Ready for Sunday?
Posted April 16th, 2008 by Tim WilliamsAs fans of football, the NFL Draft can be seen as a culmination of a player’s collegiate career. I personally believe the top pick in the NFL Draft is an honor that celebrates excellence in college football even more than the Heisman Trophy. Kansas Builds Championship Win on Foundation of Bricks
Posted April 8th, 2008 by Tim WilliamsLast night in winning the national title game, the University of Kansas played great defense late. That defense, however, was not allowed to block a shot, steal the ball or force Memphis into a bad shot. All the Jayhawks could do late in regulation was foul and hope for rebounds.

Connecticut, Drake, Buzzer all Beaten On Friday
Posted March 21st, 2008 by Tim WilliamsConnecticut played like a 4 seed on Friday. In their game against San Diego, the Huskies have little to regret. In the most surprising aspect of Friday afternoon’s big story—the Toreros upsetting UConn—Connecticut played every bit as well as they were expected to and still lost to a lower seed.
Duke's Henderson Makes Soon-Forgotten Layup; K-State Proves it's More Than a One Man Show
Posted March 21st, 2008 by Tim WilliamsWhen we watch the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament as fans, many of us understandably root for the underdog in most of the games. Even if it messes up “our brackets,” who can resist watching a school they’ve never heard of topple a school they’ve heard of far too many times?
A Whole New Season for Georgia
Posted March 20th, 2008 by Tim Williams"Speed of lightning
Roar of thunder
Fighting all who rob or plunder
Underdog!
Underdog!
Underdog!"
-Theme song to the cartoon "Underdog;" which I get stuck in my head about this time every year.
Perhaps the Georgia Bulldogs just decided to get all of their losing out of the way early.
An Agonizing Week For Bubble Teams
Posted March 12th, 2008 by Tim WilliamsVirginia Commonwealth University has played an excellent season.
The Rams came into the season as defending Colonial Athletic Association champions and the favorites to win it again this season. Fresh off a first-round NCAA tournament victory over Duke last year, VCU played big all season en route to the regular season conference title. On Sunday, the Rams lost in the conference semifinals, taking them out of the running for the conference’s automatic bid.
